Sanctification Part 4 - Let’s Work Out!

1. We must go to the gym to work out. (Do we consider the hard work ahead?)

a. It takes effort. 1 Timothy 4:8

b. We must count the cost. Luke 14:27, 31, 33

2. We can’t have another work out for us…however, we must be trained!

a. If a trainer were to exercise for us, they would be strengthened and NOT US!

i. Galatians 6:4-5

ii. Romans 14:10-14

b. We have a ‘Personal Trainer’. We need an expert to teach us so we are properly trained.

i. 1 Corinthians 6:19

ii. John 14:26, 16:13

iii. Acts 1:8

iv. Romans 8:26

3. We are responsible for how we ‘workout’, strengthen or build upon our salvation!

a. The time we give, the amount we lift/exercise and the effort we devote to working out will have a direct impact on the results. 1 Corinthians 3:9-15

b. We will give an account. 2 Corinthians 5:10

4. How do we work out?

a. Put Off:

i. Put down the junk food. Hebrews 12:1 and 1 John 2:15-17

ii. Reckon the old way is over. Ephesians 4:22

b. Put On:

i. Determine to be renewed. Ephesians 4:23-24

ii. We must consume that which is healthy. John 15:4 and Acts 2:40-47

5. Now we have strength to do!

a. Ephesians 2:14-21

b. Romans 12:ALL

Talk it out, Walk it out!

1. Is your heart to serve the LORD and do you find joy in being used by Him? If so, are you willing to count the cost and work out your own salvation?

2. Do you listen to your personal trainer, ‘The Holy Spirit’?

3. Are you abiding in Jesus in order to receive the necessary nutrients to be strengthened for that which He has called you to? If not, why and how can you? (hint, read Acts 2:40-47)
